fine art prints

The monotypes in the Layered Color series are my most abstract. Musical. Improvisational. Moody.  Like jazz. Sometimes lighthearted. Sometimes scary.

They are made by painting with a water based ink onto a sheet of acrylic plastic.  The ink is allowed to dry.  A piece of dampened paper is placed over the painted image and then run through an etching press to transfer the image from the plastic plate onto the paper.  These particular images are printed in a layered fashion so several plates are painted and transferred to the same paper until the desired final image is achieved.  The prints in this series are 22" x 30" with the ink "bleeding" out into the deckle edges of the paper.
